Falling leaves and the remains of last week’s jack-o-lanterns remind us of the season. Thanksgiving is coming, and Christmas can’t be far behind.
However, God wants us to be reminded of him, for he is in the season that changes, even as he remains the unchangeable God of all creation.
Let’s look at our AUTUMNAL God:
A – He is the ANVIL upon which the goldsmith smooths the gold hewn from the fires.
Isaiah 41:7 tells us God fastens his creation on his ANVIL so that it shall not be moved.
U – He is UNCHANGEABLE even as the world changes around him.
Hebrews 7:24 stresses to us that because he continues forever, he has an UNCHANGEABLE priesthood.
T – His is the THRONE which sits high above the people.
2 Chronicles 18:18 reveals God upon his THRONE, and the host of heaven stands at his right hand and at his left.
U – He rules to the UTTERMOST realms of the earth.
Mark 13:27 apprises us that he will gather his elect from the UTTERMOST parts of the earth, even to the UTTERMOST parts of the heavens.
M – He is MIGHTIER than the seas that crash against the rocks.
Psalm 93:4 resounds with the thunder of God’s voice, for his majesty drowns out even the mighty waves of the sea.
N – He is the good NEWS from a far country.
Proverbs 25:25 discloses the soothing nature of God, for the NEWS of his presence is as cold water to a thirsty soul.
A – He is the ANSWER to the inquisitor.
Matthew 25:45 tells us we become Christ’s ANSWER to the needs of the stranger, for if we ignore them in their need, we have ignored Jesus.
L – He is the LION that will devour his prey.
Numbers 23:24 terrifies the enemy of Israel, for the Lord is lifted up as a young LION who drinks the blood of the slain.
Even as the world tries to thrash us into submission, we can depend on our God to be the rock to which we can cling.
