The Power of Peroxide

The British are epitomized by the need to put up a good front. It’s said that during the bombing of London in WWII, Londoners poured their tea as if nothing was happening, even as the explosions pounded their ears.

Every version of the sinking of the mighty ship Titanic has the orchestra playing tunes into the night as the ship slipped beneath the waves.

What the British were really doing is something modern science has proven to be an effective strategy in dealing with difficult situations. When we focus on the positive aspects of a situation, it’s not unusual for that situation to change to meet our expectations.

Of course, the reality is that the situation rarely changes. What’s different is how we affect the situation. Our attitude improves, we see the positive, and when we accentuate the upside of things, the negative aspects often fall to the wayside.

The Human Resource divisions of modern companies tell today’s educators that a moderately educated person who has a cooperative, “can do” attitude will go further in the business world than one who is simply brilliant and well educated.

It’s the power of peroxide that makes all the difference. It’s the ability to look at a situation that’s black, to be able to find the white, and to foster that negative situation into becoming what we want it to be.

It’s not magic, “name it, claim it,” or some sort of mystical god-thing. It’s an attitude change. Read in Matthew 5:36:

“Neither shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.”

God lays out the world as it is. His control is total. It’s what we do with our life once he gives it to us that makes all the difference.

Our hair might be naturally black, but the power of peroxide will change how we appear before the world, and that will change how we act in the world.

When we change how we act, we will change the world.

Let’s let the peroxide power of Christ become ours. When we change how we think to reflect the truth of our Lord, we’ll no longer have to worry about the ending. We can pour the tea of Christ even as the world seems to implode around us. The British triumphed over their enemy even as they maintained their sense of decorum, and Christ will triumph over the blackness of sin, if only we trust him to walk at our side.

When we claim victory in the name of Christ, he will change the world around us from black into the purest white.

Excerpt of the Day

A promise to the devil can be laughed off when we have Jesus standing at our side. A promise from the devil is worthless, and should be laughed off even faster.
