Deon of Arizona tells the story of being two people.
One is Navajo and the other Black.
Deon always felt she was only half of what she should be, neither fully Navajo nor fully Black. She was two people and yet felt only half of either one.
Confusing, right?
Here’s the reality she came to embrace: Her two ancestries make her WHOLE, not half. Each half of who she is completes the other. Deon can now say, “I am a perfect combination of both cultures.”
Ephesians 1:7 says:
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.”
Half human? Half redeemed? Or fully the child of the Living God? Woo-hoo! Jesus came to make us whole! We are redeemed!
When we accept Christ, we become, as Deon says it, a perfect combination of both: mortal and divine. We are now sons and daughters (our mortal humanity) of our Heavenly Father (our divine immortality).
No halfway life for the Christian. Our old person has died, and we have become reborn in Christ according to the riches of his grace.
That’s a story we want to share with everyone!
