Dining on God’s Goodness

Let’s jump right in with this familiar – and meaningful – passage from Isaiah 55:1-3:

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.”

Here's three break-apart truths from this passage:

Truth No. 1: Anyone can come to Christ.

We read, “Everyone who thirsts.” That’s me and you. No money needed.

Truth No. 2: It’s not things that give us satisfaction.

We read, “Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread?” That means houses, cars, anything of this earth.

Truth No. 3: The soul is what’s important.

We read, “That your soul may live.” The good we can do is dining on God’s goodness that our souls might live.

Let’s focus on Jesus. He’s the only thing in life that truly matters.
