Hearing the Christmas Message

English Audio Version

Got your ears on, good buddy?

Those who remember 2-way radios recognize that question. Citizen band, the frequencies we could use in our cars, driving down the highway, while headed to far-flung destinations somewhere down the road.

Got your ears onare you listening. Is your radio on and up and running? If I talk to you, will you be able to hear me?

Why else would God send Jesus to earth to be born into human form on that long-ago Christmas day?

Got your ears on, good buddy? Here’s Jesus, my Son, and he’s got something to say to you.

Isaiah 40:28, written 700 years before the birth of Jesus, tells of God’s desire to speak his glory unto mankind.

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.”

Here are five messages God wants us to get from this verse:

Message No. 1: The Lord is the everlasting God.

He is from time immemorial to time everlasting: future-proof. We can depend on him now and forever.

Message No. 2: He is the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He created all that is, was, and will be. God’s resources are without end. If we need it, he can provide it.

Message No. 3: He does not faint.

He has an unending desire to help us. He cares about each of us and wants to be there for us.

Message No. 4: He does not grow weary.

He doesn’t become frustrated with our stumbling. No matter how many times God has rescued us in the past, he holds his hand out to us to pull us out of the muck of our lives.

Message No. 5: His understanding is unsearchable.

He understands us and still he loves us. He knows we are prone to stumble, and even so, he accepts us as his children and calls us his own.

Got your ears on? God is talking to you. If you’re listening, he has good news for you.

Jesus is your salvation, the reason for Christmas Day.
