We know the story of the three little pigs.
The big, bad wolf huffed and puffed, and he blew two of their houses down.
The spider refused to leave little Miss Muffet alone.
Humpty Dumpty should never have climbed that wall.
And in real life? The chances of success are even worse. It’s why we’re required to carry insurance on our cars, our houses, and ourselves.
The world gives us no promise we’ll survive our trip to the mailbox, much less our drive across town.
The Word of God says we don’t have to live in fear.
We don’t need to quake in terror when shadows fall across our day; the doctor doesn’t need to be on our speed dial; and our mailbox can be a safe destination each morning.
Here’s how God says it in 1 John 1:9:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Here are our 4 Assurances from Jesus:
Assurance No. 1:
Jesus is faithful. He will not let us down. Every promise he has made will be completed through him.
Assurance No. 2:
Our Lord is just. He upholds us in his strong right hand against the struggles the world brings against us.
Assurance No. 3:
He understands when we do wrong, and he accepts our apology. He welcomes us with open arms.
Assurance No. 4:
The Master makes us pure before his Father. His blood, shed on the cross, covers every bad thing we’ve done or will do.
How do we deserve these assurances? Here’s the catch. There’s something he requires of us.
We must confess our sins.
In other words, Jesus expects us to understand that we’ve crossed the line of good, we’ve lived a life that’s outside his will, and we want to change our mode of operation.
We want to become like him.
That’s all there is to it. It’s called the Plan of Salvation, and it will change every part of who we are.
Come to Jesus. His plan includes us.
