God is widely considered to be all-knowing.
If something has happened . . . or is happening . . . or might possibly happen in the future, God knows.
It’s called omniscience. Being fully aware. Hyperaware, even.
Yet. However. Despite that . . . there are some things God doesn’t know.
Wha—?!? No way! How can you say that?
It’s in the Bible. God knows everything, even the hairs on our heads.
Let’s see what the Word of God says.
Hebrews 10:17 is the final statement in a covenant between God and the Redeemed of Christ.
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
Did you catch those three words? Remember . . . no . . . more.
That’s right. God has forgotten them. God no longer knows the bad things we’ve done.
This isn’t a fluke, either. God says it again in Jeremiah 31:34 to ensure we truly understand what he means.
“And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
There are those three words again: Remember . . . no . . . more.
It’s a good thing we have a forgetful God. We want our past slipups to be cast aside and forgotten. At times, we all need a fresh start, and that opportunity can begin today.
We call it salvation, and it’s as simple as A, B, C.
- Admit our wrongdoing.
- Believe on the Son.
- Confess that Jesus is Lord.
God never reminds us of what he’s forgiven us. Our salvation makes us white as snow.
