Go out at midday.
Yeah, at the hottest time of the year, when the sun is directly overhead, and look up.
The sun will burn your eyes if you stare too long.
You’ll sear your retina, scorch a hole in it, and you’ll be blinded for life. The image of the sun will be burned into your vision forever.
That’s the power of the sun, of the star in the heavens that supplies life to our world.
It gives us life, and it’s so powerful, it can take that life away.
Now consider this: what about the power of the One who created the sun?
How powerful must he be?
Read of our mighty God in Ephesians 1:19:
“[That you may know] the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might.”
We can take three things from this verse:
1. God’s power is immeasurable.
2. It flows unto those who believe upon him.
3. His power brings about great works in us.
It’s time to stand and cheer!
God, whose power is immeasurable, offers it unto us so that we can do mighty works for him.
Wow! That’s good teaching!
So, when your life has you on a hotplate, and you think you can’t endure any longer, look up. Find the Son of God. Look at him until he burns your vision clean, until you can see through your temporary troubles, and his power begins to flow through you.
That’s the power of Jesus, of the One who gives life unto our world.
That’s the power that God wants to flow through us.
When our eyes are on Jesus, there’s nothing that can come between him and us.
