Worth More than Gold

English Audio Version

A fantasy gift.

Anything in our box. Oh, we know it’s not real, but what if? If no holds are barred, and cost isn’t an object, what would we choose?

It’s that genie thing, the one where we get three wishes, except this time, there’s no trickery involved.

What we want is simply there, inside the box, free for the asking.

What comes to mind? A fancy vacation? A boat or a car? Romance, maybe, or to retire earlier rather than later.

Or gold, the most precious of metals. If we had enough, we could certainly afford all the rest.

All the choices are exciting, even desirable, but they come at a price. They will cost us, in time, maintenance, or pressure to share our windfall.

There’s a better gift worth more than gold. We read about it in Revelation 22:17.

“The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come.’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.”

That’s every fantasy gift rolled into one, and the exciting part is that it’s no imaginative dream that we let go of in the light of the sun. We get our three wishes: the water of life, it’s free, and we thirst no more.

How’s that for giving us a reason for the season, that every gift we open brings us life, that we are spiritually restored and rejuvenated, and that our renewal is offered to us freely and without cost?

We have only one onus laid on us. We must choose Christ. We must make a choice and draw unto him.

If we desire a relationship with the Savior, he will reach out to us every time.
