Dividing fact from opinion is a tricky feat.
When we see something in print, a veneer of validity seems to be attached. They wouldn’t print it, if it wasn’t true, would they?
When a trusted friend or family member tells us something, our first nod is acceptance. Lies aren’t possible, and the only other reasonable path is that of truth . . . even if it’s no more than someone’s imaginative opinion.
And opinions abound . . . and are often tossed around as truth.
We must choose to test the words we hear and decide what’s true and what’s not.
John 14:6 gives us the infallible words of Jesus:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Fact or opinion? Was Jesus telling the truth, or was this his opinion, little more than a boaster claiming to reveal the path to God?
Let’s test his words. Did our Lord do as he promised? Were broken lives changed? Withered limbs straightened? The dead brought back to life?
If we accept that the records from 2000 years ago stand as truth, we only have one clear choice: accept the words of Christ and find our salvation in him.
It’s time to make a choice. Let’s choose Jesus.
