Redemption in Action

English Audio Version

The past has a way of cropping up.

Things we wish forgotten spring out of nowhere, and we must confront them over again.

We feel we’re on trial, the jury is set to judge us, and even our court counsel is off in the wings, distracted by other business.

We forget that the past is a different day, the sun has already set, and we can only move forward.

Romans 8:1 says it eloquently:

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

When we are redeemed in our Lord, he wipes the slate clean. What’s in the past stays there. It can no longer drag us down. The chain has been cut, the weights dropped away, and we are free in Jesus.

Picture our days as a series of walled gardens. Each morning, we open the gate into the new day, and we close the one into the old.

We can no longer tend yesterday’s garden, only the one we’re in today. Tomorrow’s garden is on the other side of a gate that’s not yet available to us.

Only today is within our grasp. We are redeemed from yesterday, and we are freed to enter tomorrow’s gate when the new day arrives.

We can move forward without fear when we keep our eyes on Christ.

Excerpt of the Day

When we claim victory in the name of Christ, he will change the world around us from black into the purest white.
