Securing Our Salvation

English Audio Version

Good parents don’t wake up and say, “I’m doing something bad to my children today.”

Well-run businesses don’t set out to damage the environment or abuse their employees.

Dedicated Christians don’t search for ways to break the rules given to us in the Word.

Slip-ups are just that, small things that can get out of hand and snowball into problems that we never expected.

We must be proactive, searching for ways to ensure we remain at the top of our game and maintain our top level of performance.

Our Lord says it like this in Matthew 26:41:

“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Jesus understood the frailty of human existance. Our thoughts and intentions are for good. What happens in the day-to-day world is often very different.

Our success comes from our awareness of what’s going on around us. What are we watching on television? Who do we spend our free time with? What are we reading? Where do we go on the weekends?

Jesus’ solution is to watch and pray on a consistent basis. It will keep our minds focused on our spiritual purpose, and it will secure our salvation through our renewed faith in him.

Our daily conversation with our Lord builds our heavenly relationship and draws us closer to him.

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
