The last thing we want to read in a sales ad is “minor repairs needed.”
That car that requires brakes… go ahead and install them.
An unfinished house? Paint the trim, please.
Who would advertise unhemmed dresses? We can’t wear them that way.
If the repairs are minor, why haven’t they already been done?
God knew the Law and the teachings of the Prophets weren’t complete. They didn’t provide the ultimate solution for man’s redemption. They needed a finishing touch.
They needed Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross to become fully functional.
Matthew 5:17 reveals our Lord accepting the responsibility for completing what had been left undone:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
The plan of salvation became complete with Jesus stepping into his role in his Father’s ordered design. The ultimate sacrifice of our Savior giving his life willingly to enable others to live spiritually changed the future of the world.
Jesus put the finishing touches on salvation, and he offers it for free to anyone who wishes to come unto him.
Our sales offering is the Bible, and our receipt is stamped Free of Charge.
