God’s Business Plan

―  Also find us at www.MyChurchNotes.com  ―

Let’s set up a business plan.

Keep it simple. The employee is required to show up for work, and the employer will provide a paycheck.

To add a twist, let’s make the paycheck contingent on the quality of work the employee produces: higher quality equals higher pay.

We all want that job, one where our hard work is rewarded. If we need extra money, we can double up our efforts and go home with more cash at the end of the week.

We’re describing our Christian walk here. Yes, that’s correct. We show up for work, and God writes our paycheck.

Colossians 3:17 sets the standard God expects of us:

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Matthew 7:20 is our arrow pointing to the best workers:

“Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.”

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says God will write our paychecks based on how we perform on the job:

“The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”

There are other fields of employment out there. We don’t have to work for God. We must remember one thing, however. What we put in is what we get out. There’s no free ride, with God or with the world. If we want our fortunes to rise, that happens when we sign on with the Father. It’s called salvation.

God’s offering us a job. When we sign on, our paycheck is eternity in the arms of the Savior.
