Restaurants are great examples of choice. We can order almost anything from the menu. Some items we must decline. They would either overfill us, or they aren’t good for us.
The world is a smorgasbord of opportunities, experiences, and things we can immerse ourselves in. We can try yoga, cooking, auto racing, or raising pigs. We can throw a party, get involved in politics, or simply veg out at home with the TV remote in hand. The choice is ours.
How many of us choose God, really choose God? When we face the hard choices, we pause and consider what Jesus would do, then take steps to walk the way he would have us go?
1 John 3:2 tells us:
“Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”
2 Peter 3:9 says:
“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
Tomorrow, when we step out of our doors, let’s try to see the world differently. Life doesn’t have to be what is. It can be what we choose. When we choose Christ, our steps are ordered differently, and we become what Jesus would have us be.
The footsteps of Christ will lead us, if we choose to look for him each moment of the day.
