The Dumps Are No Place to Be

English Audio Version

Are you in the dumps? Has life offended you? Does anger make your blood boil?

God says the dumps are no place to be and you should get out now.

When you wail in despair, your tears stain your shirt, not someone else’s.

When you ball your fist in anger, all your fingers point back to you as the one to blame.

Your better place is found in the hands of the almighty God.

Psalm 86:5 says you can look up when you need someone who cares about you.

“For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.”

God is your steppingstone out of the muck that surrounds you. You don’t have to live in depression or despair. He will be the sunshine on your face.

Proverbs 28:13 says you cannot point your finger at others and ignore your own flaws.

“Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”

You must look at yourself honestly. Every person has rough spots, but God says he will forgive you. God will lift you up and carry you onto the mountaintop.

The next time you wake with a black cloud over your head, claim the assurance of God’s love. Push back the dark thoughts. Welcome in the light.

Here’s a morning routine with five ways you can beat back the cobwebs of defeat.

  • First, speak aloud, “This will be my best day ever.”
  • Next, get up and make the bed.
  • Third, eat a healthy breakfast (not a sugar-infused one).
  • After that, spend time in the promises of the Word.
  • Finally, make a list of things to get done and get started on them.

Your morning routine may evolve, but have one. Formulate a plan. Check things off your list one at a time. Keep your hands busy. Don’t leave room for despair or anger to take root in your life.

The sun will shine through the dark clouds when you invest in the work of the Lord.
