We can gain a good understanding of how to trust in God by thinking of the clothes we wear.
Why wear wool instead of an imitation fabric? What features make it better than other less expensive fabrics?
Wool breathes better, allowing air to circulate around us. It also wicks moisture away from our skin, keeping us dryer. In addition, it keeps us warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
What about silk? There are all sorts of alternatives out there. Why choose the finer (and more expensive) fabric?
Silk is highly absorbent, and it dries quickly. It allows our skin to breathe and keeps us cooler and fresher in summer. Silk is also robust and resists soil and odors.
That brings us to God. Why would we choose to have faith in God when we have other alternatives?
Here are three verses that tell us 3 Features of Faith in God that we can’t get anywhere else.
Our 1st Feature of Faith in God:
Romans 15:13 tells us we gain hope when we have faith in God.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Our 2nd Feature of Faith in God:
Hebrews 11:1 says confidence will be ours when we place our faith in God.
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Our 3rd Feature of Faith in God:
James 1:12 is our promise of blessings and a crown of life when we stand in faith on the promises of God.
“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
Just as we can choose any garment from our closet, we can choose to believe anything we want about faith and the afterlife. It’s when we choose Christ that we experience the best features of all, the ones Jesus died for us to have.
Let’s choose Christ. He offers us hope, confidence, and eternal life in him.
