Testing God

English Audio Version

What proof do we have of God?

What’s out there, really, that says there is a supreme being that created everything, and that he (or she) cares about the fate of humanity?

How can our little problems be significant enough to be noticed by an intelligence so vast it could envision the cosmos and bring it into being?

What makes us think we rate, if God is even up there?

Let’s look at the historical record.

Judges 6:38 tells us:

“And it was so. When he rose early next morning and squeezed the fleece, he wrung enough dew from the fleece to fill a bowl with water.”

Huh? What was that all about? How does that indicate the presence of an all-powerful Creator?

Let’s look at the bigger story.

Israel was being oppressed by the Midianites and other people of the East. An angel appeared to Gideon (an angel, right … however, we’ll go with it) and told Gideon he would be the Israelites’ savior.

What a trip! To be told you’re responsible for saving your entire nation? As you might expect, Gideon had his doubts. A supreme being … appearing to him? Telling him to go on the offensive and save his people? Let’s get real.

Gideon told God, “Let’s get this straight. I need proof.”

And God came through, passing Gideon’s test. Just like he passes every test we make of him today.

Our proof of God is in the Bible. Let’s take time to read it today.
