Flesh and Bone

English Audio Version

Our arms are flesh and bone.

They’re no contest against the spiritual strength of our enemy.

Punch addiction in the nose (yes, you can try), but you’re not going to have much effect. Addiction won’t run and hide, crying for mercy against your attack.

Neither will depression or anguish. We can pummel our medical ailments, body-slam our financial setbacks, and wrestle our failing marriage to the mat, but when we rise, what difference will we have made?

Not much. Flesh and bone are no formidable enemy to that which we cannot see.

We need a greater strength than we have alone. We need to be spiritually endowed from a mightier power. We need to wage battle with spiritual armor from above.

Psalms 18:39 reveals where our strength originates.

“For you equipped me with strength for the battle; you made those who rise against me sink under me.”

When we feel the draw of the world’s addictions, don the Helmet of Salvation.

Put on the Breastplate of Righteousness, and depression and anguish will be banished.

Our Shield of Faith is our guard against medical ailments, financial setbacks, and failing marriages.

When we wield the Sword of the Spirit and gird ourselves with the Belt of Truth, no spiritual enemy will prosper against us.

We are more than flesh and bone. When we come to Jesus, we become a warrior of the Almighty God.
