Try it. Just try it.
Reach overhead and change the intensity of the sun.
Sure, go ahead, tweak it just enough to make the day cooler . . . or warmer, if that’s what you need.
Fixed it, yet? Have you made the massive orb hanging in the sky bend to your beckoning? Has it listened and become the compliant tool you desire?
Of course not. We have no control over the sun. We can modify our environment to provide shade or to screen ourselves from the worst of its effects, but we can’t stop it from blazing down, disappearing at sunset, or hiding behind the clouds during a winter day.
Worrying about the sun doesn’t improve our lives. We must accept that it’s up there, it will do what it does, and life goes on as best we can manage it.
Philippians 4:6 reveals a truth about living a successful and satisfying life.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
We can’t manipulate much of what occurs as we walk through each day. Many things are not under our control. Finances will spiral out of sight. Health issues will crop up. People will fail to come through when we need them most.
What we can do is trust in a good God who cares about us and steps in to fill the gaps. We can put our faith in him. He is our shade, our screen, our protection from the worst life can mete out. He will be our strength and shield when we don’t think we can make it another day.
We can depend on the Son to be there for us, unchanging and dependable in every way.
