Moving On Up was the theme song to an iconic television series from the 1970-80s.
The core concept of The Jeffersons was that life offers us opportunities, and it’s up to us to take advantage of them. We move up when we step up.
As Christians, what opportunities do we have for advancement? How can we step up to move up? Isn’t that God’s job?
Well, yes, but not totally. We must have faith. That’s our step, to believe in Christ, trust in his divine will for us, and let him be our escalator toward our spiritual success.
The question becomes, how do we get faith? If we don’t possess it, surely there’s a way to get it.
Yes, there is. Romans 10:17 gives us a way.
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
It seems too simple to be true, but that’s all there is to it. When we immerse ourselves in the Bible, we will hear from God, and our faith will increase.
We’ll begin to move on up into that pie in the sky. We’ll discover new levels of faith, find unprecedented confidence in our Lord, and become the Christian apostle who will set an example for others to follow.
We take a substantial step toward Christ when we build our faith in him.
