Icy roads are no fun.
Well, unless you want to slip and slide. Most of us would rather not, especially if our car is fresh and new.
How can we be safe on tarmac that’s coated in snow or ice?
We keep our traction control on.
Modern cars are outstanding at driving on slippery surfaces, so much so it’s easy to forget there are people around us who might slide into us. We must plan our drive to allow for those who don’t have the tools we enjoy.
We must develop a strategy to be safe on the road.
Our thoughts are the same. We want to stay focused, on task, and keep our minds pure before God. We do it with spiritual traction control.
Philippians 4:8 tells us how:
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
The world is covered in icy precipices. The landscape is slippery with opportunities to suck us into negative thinking. We must endeavor to keep our spiritual traction control in place so that our thoughts stay pure in Christ. Think on truth. Focus on commendable thoughts. Look for things to praise. Let those things be our goal, and we’ll get to our destination every time.
Christ is our traction control, and in him, we’ll always remain on track.
