Opening God’s Gift of Today

We are all looking for a better tomorrow.

Yes, all of us. The world reaches to grab it in any form or fashion. Call it a horoscope, a reading, or a crystal ball, we want to see through the mist of the night and into what’s coming our way.

The Word gives the Christian twelve clues telling us what we can expect tomorrow to bring. We don’t have to count on the world’s horoscopes, readings, or crystal balls. The future’s already written out by the hand of God.

Clue #1: Philippians 3:20 tells us to eagerly await our Savior.

Clue #2: Galatians 5:5 says we can await righteousness through our faith.

Clue #3: Isaiah 24:17 warns us that trouble is part of being human.

Clue #4: Jeremiah 48:43 gives us pretty much the same message.

Clue #5: Hosea 9:8 offers only trouble to those who turn from God.

Clue #6: Acts 20:23 predicts trouble for the believer.

Clue #7: 1 Thessalonians 1:10 reveals the Jesus that is better than idols.

Clue #8: Hebrews 9:28 promises Christ will come to those who await him.

Clue #9: Romans 8:23 looks forward to our adoption as redeemed sons of God.

Clue #10: Acts 9:24 cautions the converted that evil men will try to destroy us.

Clue #11: Jude 1:21 opens the door to mercy as our goal in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Clue #12: Habakkuk 3:16 assures us that God will bring us relief from our oppressors.

We are looking for tomorrow. It’s human nature to want to know our future, to want to see what’s just “over the rainbow.”

Sometimes it’s better to live in today. God is the only one who truly knows what tomorrow brings. What will be, will be. All our worry doesn’t change a thing.

Let’s look for God’s promises of tomorrow, but let’s live in God’s gift of today.

Excerpt of the Day

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
