The Lord is guiding you to perfection.
Choosing to follow Jesus means you accept a higher calling. You have a duty to portray your best for him.
It’s not likely you’ll get there until you trade your mortality for the Immortality of the Father, but you are encouraged to climb that ladder one step at a time.
Luke 6:35-38 gives 7 Steps to Your Higher Calling. They are a guide to the perfection you endeavor to achieve.
“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
The 1st Step to Your Higher Calling:
Love your enemies. You must be concerned about their welfare and be willing to help them succeed.
The 2nd Step to Your Higher Calling:
Do good. Find worthy causes. Commit your time and money to further their goals.
The 3rd Step to Your Higher Calling:
Lend, expecting nothing in return. No contracts. No repayment schedules. It’s more like a gift.
The 4th Step to Your Higher Calling:
Be merciful. Even when someone does you wrong, forgive them anyway, just because you want to.
The 5th Step to Your Higher Calling:
Judge not. Don’t assume you see the entire picture. The reality might be eye-opening.
The 6th Step to Your Higher Calling:
Condemn not. No public shaming, no gossip, none of it. You are not the judge and jury wrapped up in one.
The 7th Step to Your Higher Calling:
Forgive. Truly, really, let it go. Wipe your grudge slate clean and start each day afresh.
Follow Jesus, and you will be up the ladder of perfection in no time.
