3 Opinions You Need to Discard Right Now

English Audio Version

Opinions are ours by right.

We don’t have to prove them. They are not facts. We can claim any opinion we want, and no one can argue we’re wrong.

There are some opinions that are like rotten apples in a bowl. They can create a bad situation, and they begin to ruin the good fruit they touch.

We must toss out the bad opinions before they begin to spoil our relationships, our good name, and our walk with the Lord.

Our 1st Bad Opinion:

I am better than the jokers around me.

This is an easy opinion to fall back on. We feel slighted by the world, we want to bring them down to our level, so we put ourselves as better than the rest.

God says to stop it. You’re hurting your relationships with the people who need you most.

Proverbs 16:18 tells us:

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Our 2nd Bad Opinion:

What was wrong yesterday isn’t necessarily wrong today.

What!?! Where did this come from? Right and wrong are not two shades of the same color. They are the opposite sides of a vinyl record. To play one, you must totally turn away from the other.

God says his standard is the same today as it was yesterday.

Proverbs 8:13 tells us:

“The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.”

Our 3rd Bad Opinion:

I am important because of my standing in society.

This falls apart as soon as our money and our political clout begin to fade. Man’s honor is hollow, only there if you are useful to those who shower you with praise.

God offers you true honor when you abide by his standards and respect his authority.

John 5:44 says:

“How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?”

Our respect must flow from our walk with the Master. When we are in his care, everything we do will reflect his perfection.
