True gratefulness is a hard-earned attribute.
We can only possess it when we’ve been in need or worked hard to achieve a goal. It’s the man or woman who’s done without for an extended time that wells up with appreciation for the gift that comes their way.
A homeless person will find value in even a humble cottage.
If a car runs, the model and make will be unimportant to someone who has had to walk everywhere.
When life beats us into the gutter, a fresh start will be worth more than heaping praises upon our own shoulders.
Ephesians 3:20-21 points to the source of all we’ve been given.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
We can stop there, and we’ve touted the magnificence of our God as high as the heavens. It’s appropriate for this passage to end in the summative “amen.” Jesus deserves all our praise. He gifted us with his supreme sacrifice, and through him, our salvation is complete.
When we realize what Christ offers us, our joy and praise floods everything we do.
