Aiming High for Christ

Top athletes get the bragging rights.

LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo, Michael Jordan, Roger Federer, Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Michael Phelps, and Maria Sharapova.

All of them have excelled in their fields. They reached the top of their game. They pegged what they’re good at.

James 1:9 gives the rest of us hope:

“Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted.”

This isn’t false praise. This is more than a participation trophy. James is telling us that it doesn’t matter if we’re not a LeBron, or a Cristiano. We don’t need the prowess of a Michael Jordan or a Roger, the speed of a Usain, or the amazing endurance of a Serena, a Michael Phelps, or a Maria.

If we know Christ, we are exalted above all others. If our bank account is flat, we work a dead-end job, or we can’t find a spouse, we are still exalted in Jesus. If our car is rusted, our roof leaks, or our utilities are cut off, we are exalted in our heavenly Father. If we have a prison record, our brother is in jail, or we wear drug tracks on our arms, we are exalted through our faith in the almighty God.

Let the brother… rejoice… he is exalted!

Today’s our day to rock the airwaves with our shout for Christ. We are exalted in him!

Excerpt of the Day

We already know the end of the story. Jesus rules, and the devil drools.
