The World Will Fall Away

So, your house was repossessed. That’s pretty awful.

A flat tire on the way to work, and that’s the reason you were fired? Man, sympathies to you.

What was said about you on social media? People can be so cruel.

No, don’t tell me the church building was hit with graffiti again. How much will it cost to clean this time?

Here’s what we must accept about all these things: this is our life, but it’s not our LIFE.

That’s sounds oxymoronish, I know, but we live on two levels. This life, the one of repossessed homes, flat tires, social media, and graffiti … and our true life, that of salvation, commitment to Christ, and the eternal world that is to come.

Which is the one we should pay the most attention to?

Better said, which do we pay the most attention to?

Matthew 10:28 says:

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

See, here’s what this verse in Matthew means. Some things are important, and some are less so. Here’s a good example.

Breakfast. Whole milk or skim? That’s an important question, but if you choose one or the other, your world is not fundamentally altered.

Salvation. Jesus or the world? The one you choose alters EVERTHING for all of ETERNITY. Yeah, everything is fundamentally altered.

You can find a new house. That tire can be repaired, and someone else will be glad to hire you. You can even turn off social media and paint over the graffiti on the church building.

Your soul? Watch out, watch out! The devil is coming for you, and only in Christ can you find the security that guarantees your eternity.

The world will fall away. Christ’s love and his salvation will be with us for all time.

Choose Jesus today.
