Grace and Only Grace

Do we trust the Bible?

We accept that it is the written Word of God, inspired by the Father, and penned by his chosen authors.

It is also unalterable and perfect in all that it says.

So, again, do we trust the Bible?

Here’s what I mean. Salvation. What’s it all about? How do we achieve it? How do we know it’s ours?

Let’s open the New Testament. Hardly anyone can argue with the Epistle of Ephesians, the letter written by Paul to the church at Ephesus. This book is about equipping the body of Christ to live as one in Christ.

Nothing controversial there. It’s all good and warm, feelings of togetherness and hugs and lovingkindness.

Right?

How then do we have division over Ephesians 2:8-9?

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Salvation is an out-and-out gift. We do nothing to earn it. If we could, some might say, “I deserve my salvation more than you. I worked harder for it!”

Certainly, once we are saved, we must endeavor to emulate the lifestyle and habits of Jesus. If we don’t change, then were we ever saved? But that first step, salvation through Christ, is a gift, pure and simple. We find our faith in Christ, accept his authority over us, and turn away from our old life.

Easy-as-pie, as they say. And there for anyone who wishes to walk in the footsteps of the Master.

Salvation can be yours. Believe on Jesus today.
