God’s Gift

Karen from Sunny Skyz relates this endearing story of goodwill and kindness to others.

She and her husband had a folding bike they no longer needed and decided to put up for sale. They were contacted by a gentleman who hoped to purchase it for his foster son. It would be his foster son’s opportunity to learn how to ride.

Karen and her husband discussed it and quickly decided to donate the bike to a good cause. When they delivered it to the gentleman’s home, they were rewarded with a box of chocolates as a thank you.

Karen says the true bonus in their gift was the expression of gratitude they received. It was worth more than any money they might have received from selling the bike to someone else.

Philippians 4:6-7 in the NIV reminds us:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Money, possessions … or the money we get from selling our possessions … isn’t our source of rewards in life. Our satisfaction comes from God … from help we offer unto others … from giving out goodwill and kindness when the opportunity presents itself.

Like gifting a bike so that a man’s foster son can learn to ride.

God is our best example. He offered his son. All we need to do is accept his gift … salvation … and become part of the Family of God.

Today’s your opportunity. It’s a gift. Say yes now.
