There’s two ways to flip a breaker.
On or off.
On connects you to the power. Off shuts everything down.
We have a choice in whether we are connected to the power of God or languishing in the dark.
It’s like the utility line to our house. If we contact the power company and say, “Hook me up,” they are more than glad to do so.
“Wait, wait,” you say. “First, we must pay the bill. You’re making this too simple.”
Of course. Let’s keep it simple. Here’s what God asks of us when we say, “Hook me up, God!” By the way, that’s called salvation.
The charge to us? Easy-smeasy: Changing our lifestyle. Spending time in prayer. Delving into the truths found in the Bible. Becoming a new us.
As it says in Genesis 1:3:
“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”
We tend to think of this as a Creation moment, an event that happened on the First Day, and we’re right.
It’s also what happens in our hearts when we invite Christ in as our savior and Lord.
We flip the breaker into the on position.
See, here’s the takeaway from this. The power has been there all along. God’s salvation opportunity has been hooked in for two millennia. All we need to do is flip the breaker for the power of salvation in Christ to begin to flow into our lives.
Power us up, God! We need salvation, and we need it today!
