Our Spiritual Foundations

English Audio Version

Why believe in God?

Why choose a life of faith and consecration to a being we can’t see and touch?

Let’s step aside from those questions and ask ourselves something else.

What good comes from believing in God?

Here are six foundational scriptures that say we are better with faith in God than without it.

Psalm 27:1 says we can toss fear out the window.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

2 Timothy 1:7 tells us he replaces our fear with better emotions.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 promises we will never face our problems alone.

“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we can confidently say, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?’ ”

1 Peter 5:6-7 assures us honor is coming to us, directly from God.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 says God will lead us through every trouble we face.

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Matthew 10:39 is our promise of a new and fulfilled life in him.

“Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

So, the question isn’t why we should believe in God. It’s more important to ask why anyone would choose not to believe in God.

Faith in Christ brings us good things. Let’s try it out today.
