For All Are Called

Cast-off people. Unwanted. Set apart and abandoned by others.

Sometimes we all feel that way. For the luckiest of us, those feelings are temporary; but for others, we never get over our feelings of being adrift in life.

God has provided us an anchor. He has given us a rock to which we can cling. He sent his Son to the earth to tell us we are loved, desired of him, and invited into the kingdom.

John 3:16-17 reveals the core of God’s love for us. He came to call us unto salvation.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”

Romans 3:23 explains why we must ask for forgiveness when we come unto him.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 6:23 gives us the result of our choices in life.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Revelation 3:20 proclaims that all humanity is welcome to spend time in the presence of Christ.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”

John 14:6 reminds us that in the many voices all around us giving religious direction, only one can lead us to the Father in heaven.

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ ”

Ephesians 2:8, 9 shows us how easy salvation is, a gift that comes for free, one we do not have to earn.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

2 Corinthians 5:17 opens the invitation to everyone. If we choose to accept Jesus’ offer, we become spiritually new in him.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Our anchor is Christ. None are abandoned in him. Through our Lord, we are invited to become a part of the family of God.
