We Shall Also Live

―  Also find us at www.MyChurchNotes.com  ―

What is life?

Is it taking air in and out, or perhaps awareness of what’s around us?

Are we alive if depression overwhelms us, and the blackness of misery is all we can see?

Or do we find our life in the excitement of an adrenalin-rush adventure?

Romans 6:6-8 reveals three steps to come alive spiritually through Christ, the Son:

Coming Alive Step No. 1:

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”

The first step in being alive is casting off anything that hinders us from living. If it gets in the way of us seeing the beauty of each new day, it needs to be gone.

Coming Alive Step No. 2:

“For he who is dead is freed from sin.”

Clipping away our bad habits and bad relationships is the only way to be free from them. They must become dead to us so that we’re not tempted to return to them.

Coming Alive Step No. 3:

“Now if we are dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him.”

Christ died on the cross so that he could rise again in triumph. When we end our relationships with our old ways of wrongdoing, we will rise in exultation in the new life offered by our Lord. We will live triumphant in him.

To really live is to take Christ’s hand and depend wholly on him.

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
