Deciding on God

Take a kindergartner to a candy shop. Her eyes will light up, and you’ll hear the excitement in her voice. Each item she sees will raise her level of enthusiasm. “That one! I want that! No, that! And that!”

She won’t be able to decide.

Little boys are the same. Visit the Hot Wheels display at your local Big Box retailer. Everyone’s the one he wants, and he can’t pass up any of them.

Job 22:28 tells us God’s plan of salvation isn’t up for debate:

“You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.”

Numbers 23:19 gives us insight into how the mind of God works:

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

Psalm 2:7 says he chooses us:

“I will tell of the decree: The Lord said to me, ‘You are my Son; today I have begotten you.’ ”

This verse is widely accepted as foretelling the reign of Jesus over the nations of the Earth; and as the appointed designees of Christ, we are de facto chosen through him. There’s only one thing left for us to do.

We must decide to follow Christ.

Jesus is our blessed hope, the glory of our great God and King.

Excerpt of the Day

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
