In the modern-day world, we have government organizations that work behind the scenes to pursue certain goals. The F.B.I. is a well-known American group. We also have the C.I.A. and the N.S.A.
In Russia we think of the K.G.B. from the Cold War era, or the F.S.B. or the G.R.U.
Germany has B.N.D. and M.A.D. Yes, MAD, Germany’s Military Counterintelligence Service.
In 1960s television we had U.N.C.L.E., C.O.N.T.R.O.L., and K.A.O.S.
Neither CONTROL nor KAOS were real acronyms, just cool-sounding names. KAOS was an international organization of evil, and CONTROL its good if sometimes bumbling counterpart.
In the spiritual world we have G.O.O.D and B.A.D. Neither are really acronyms, just names that tell us what they are. GOOD is good, and BAD is bad. The Word of God tells us that we are members of either one or the other.
1 Corinthians 6:9 tells us:
“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers…”
This is the international organization of B.A.D. We either belong, or we don’t.
Galatians 5:22 says:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness…”
This is the international organization of G.O.O.D. We either belong, or we don’t.
We can choose to give up our membership in one organization and join the other. We read of this in Acts 3:19:
“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out…”
When we come to God and offer him our life, an agent of BAD becomes an agent of GOOD.
B.A.D. becomes G.O.O.D.
Let’s get our membership papers in order. There’s only one organization that offers us entrance into heaven and eternal life with Christ our Savior.
When we come to Christ, we are given a membership card to the best organization in all creation.
