The world needs to see God in us – in our actions, the words we speak, and how we treat the people around us.
Here are 4 Ways to Display God’s Love.
Accept people for who they are, not how they can advance us socially.
Leviticus 19:15 tells us:
“You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.”
Search out the disenfranchised and include them in our plans.
Hebrews 13:3 says:
“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.”
Stand up for the innocent and abused. They have lost the ability to stand up for themselves.
Proverbs 31:8-9 reminds us:
“Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Be the calm when the social water begins to boil. Agitation is never God’s way.
Matthew 5:9 places the bar high:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
We must chuck pride and arrogance out the window. God is our source of success.
To sum up and make these easy to remember, let’s look at this list. Write them down. Stick them to your bathroom mirror. Be reminded of them daily.
- Focus on people, not social standing.
- Include those others leave out.
- Champion those without a voice.
- Be quick to settle arguments.
You’ve got it now. You’re seeing it. God wants us to include everyone, not leave anyone by the side of the road, and make sure we treat everyone with kindness and compassion.
It’s the way of Jesus. Let’s make it our way, also.
