Combines are massive farming machines.
Their name comes from the three operations they perform: reaping, threshing, and winnowing. All three steps are “combined” into the one unit.
Using GPS, these cutting-edge machines can even drive themselves, with no human intervention needed.
There’s one major caveat with using combines to harvest our field. It can’t harvest what we haven’t planted.
That seems obvious to us, but how many of us have watched television and seen someone in tears, crying, “I don’t know what went wrong. I did everything I could. He was such a good boy.”
Galatians 6:7 tells us we should expect what we get.
“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.”
The backstory of featured news events often reveals the reason for the school dropout, the abandoned baby, or the financial heist.
When we see reports of kindnesses offered, rescues performed, or money donated, there’s a story behind that, also.
We’ve reaped what we’ve harvested, whether it’s bad or good. What we do comes back to us, even the small things we think are of no consequence.
Let’s live our lives for the future by giving our time to others today.
