The ocean goes down for miles.
To reach the bottom unaided is only possible near the shore. The deepest treasures of the sea require special equipment for breathing, for maintaining air pressure, and for lighting the darkest oceans.
It takes someone who understands deep sea exploration to reach the most inaccessible treasures and draw them to the surface.
In our daily walk, how can we extend aid to people mired in the deepest depths of life’s troubles? How can we know the right way to lift them out of their darkness?
Proverbs 20:5 reveals our part to play.
“The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
It takes someone who understands deep hurts to reach the person struggling inside.
Our part is to show kindness and compassion. We help them, then get them help when we no longer can. We find a way to provide guidance and consolation even when people seem unreachable in their pain.
Once we understand their needs, we’ll be able to draw them out, and reconciliation will be the sweet reward we savor for the rest of our days.
Our challenge is to find the human connection and, through Christ, lift our fellow man high above the darkness of the world.
