Our Strong Shoulder

English Audio Version

It’s easy to want to use someone else’s shoulder.

We depend on them to help us in our time of need.

The water bill may skyrocket in the summer, and just a few dollars help ease the strain.

Our boyfriend bails, and we need a shoulder to dry our tears.

Maybe it’s closer to home. We make a stupid mistake, and we’ve only us to blame. Who’s willing to listen to our wail of despair?

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says Christ supports us when we flail in life’s tormenting maelstrom.

“But [my Lord] said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

That’s a new way to think about our problems. When we struggle, the Lord’s grace underpins us, creating in us power unto perfection.

The weaker we are, the mightier our spiritual muscles become. We step out for Christ, and our footsteps thunder in his name.

There is no power like the grace of Christ. He is our strong rock and the arm that supports us. He is our shoulder that carries us through every storm.
