Building Our Trust in Christ

We need honest people around us.

It’s the foundation of happiness. If we can’t trust those who are in power over us, we’ll soon find ourselves navigating the shifting sands of discomfort, treading the breaking waves of barren lives, and carrying the heavy heartbreak of the dispossessed.

1 Timothy 3:13 gives us two ways honesty helps us build our lives:

“For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.”

When we follow the written rules of society (secular as well as religious), that changes how others view us. Our social standing improves, and we get invited to the best parties. Our credit score goes up, and we get better rates at the bank. Our work history is enviable, and we get high-paying job offers.

It does something for us internally, also. We get the positive reinforcement that lifts our self-esteem and our confidence, and improves our relationships with others.

Honesty is demanded by the Bible for our spiritual health, but it benefits us in other areas of our lives, also.

When we live a good Christian life, and we serve as an example to others, we build up our faith in Christ, and we build ourselves up, also.

Excerpt of the Day

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
