Our lives are incredibly busy.
There’s the shopping to do, the kids to bathe, the lawn to mow, and that’s in addition to working 40 hours a week. How are we supposed to find time to study the Word and find God’s will for our lives?
Here are seven quick helps for walking in the footsteps of Christ:
1 John 3:3 says to keep our thoughts on Jesus throughout each day:
“And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.”
James 1:19 suggests we spend more time listening and less time reacting:
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.”
Hebrews 13:4 requires commitment in our personal relationships:
“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 instructs us not to long for the things we’ve left behind:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Proverbs 17:28 is our caution to watch what we say:
“Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.”
Acts 10:42 advocates sharing our love for Christ with others:
“And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead.”
Jude 1:2 encourages us to look for God’s blessings in every situation:
“May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.”
Let’s sum these up for easy reference:
- Think on Jesus
- Be a good listener
- Honor our relationships
- Don’t look back
- Think before we speak
- Share Christ
- Expect God’s blessings
Christianity doesn’t have to be hard. We live it one day at a time, one hour at a time, one thought at a time. We live for Jesus in the little moments of every day.
