The question comes from the gospel of Mark.
"Who do you think I am?"
Jesus asks the question. It is one every human must answer.
Some people might choose to say, "Oh, no. Not me. I don't have an opinion on the matter. I'm not religious."
See, here's the thing. That person has already decided. Jesus was no more than a prophet, a wise man, a good example for the world to follow.
But not God.
There is no such creature. God, they mean. We are a creation of chance in a vast and unknowable universe. We are nucleotides, chains of amino acids, and carbon compounds. We arose from the swamps of antiquity and to the swamps we will return.
In Mark 8:29, Peter gives the best answer any mortal being can reach. "You are the Christ, the Messiah."
Where do you stand, in the swamps or on the mountaintop?
This is your day to decide.
