It is October 15.
So? you say ... and for many of you, that's a fair question. There are no holidays on October 15. It's not Presidents' Day, Labor Day, not even Columbus Day. That was last weekend.
Here's the catch about October 15: If you weren't ready to file your federal taxes back in April, you could get a 6-month extension ... for free! It costs nothing, other than to pay any amount you think might be due. An extra six months! That's nice!
But ... and here's the crux of this message ... the tax man eventually shows up and demands his due.
God has given humanity an extension (and more than once). You might recognize it. It happened with Noah, at Sodom and Gomorrah, and ... wait for it, because this is the big one ... at the cross when Jesus asked the Father to forgive those who crucified him, because they didn't know the depths of their infraction against God. In his words, "They know not what they do."
We no longer have that excuse. We have the Bible. Ministry teams stream the Word into our homes and cars. God has given us a two-thousand-year extension to get a handle on how to live for him.
Let's prepare now. The day of our reckoning will soon be upon us.
