“Learn about the world around you. Observe it, study its history, and understand the mistakes it has made. Only then can you truly make progress.”
(Romans 15:4 ESV)
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Battleships are impressive pieces of machinery.
Yet their usefulness is limited in modern warfare. They’ve been superseded by long-range cruise missiles, modern aircraft, and remotely flown drones.
We can learn from our historical use of battleships, but we don’t want to depend solely on them in the 21st century. To do so would be a dire mistake.
We should take the past and learn from it, but we don’t live in it. History should be our springboard to progress ahead of where we’ve been.
Through endurance and encouragement, we can find hope for a brighter future, for ourselves and those around us. We find our hope in the scriptures, for our future in is God.
