“Do you just want to be happy or to actually make a difference in this world?”
(James 2:26 ESV)
For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
What gives us happiness?
It must be indulgence. To do what we want. Gluttony, laziness, and debauchery. The call of our senses, right?
All that is physical, and yes, much of it is temporarily pleas-ing to the body. However, it can’t satisfy the inside part of who we are.
Helping others. That’s one way to be fulfilled. Volunteering. Sacrificing to make someone else happy. Giving of ourselves even when we think others don’t care. And most importantly, serving Christ.
Intentions without actions are spurious and ineffective. We must do something, we must act, to make a difference in the lives of others. Success-Speak offers us a fresh direction; it’s our actions that tell the level of our faith in Christ.
