Our Success in Christ Starts with Us

The path of success is not idle time and waiting. The path to success is hard work and persistence.”

Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.

(Proverbs 19:15 ESV)

There used to be a saying bandied about. Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.

The meaning’s clear. If we’re not being industrious in something beneficial, we’ll let boredom lead us down the darker road of destruction.

Are we waiting for God’s promises to come to us? That’s not how God works. If success is our goal, we have two things to do before we will find our success.

1.  Work hard, right now, this minute.

2.  Keep at it persistently, and never, never give up.

We may feel like we’re marking time, and that God’s forgotten us, but the truth is much simpler. We’re in training. When God perfects us with skills and understanding, then we’ll move into His promises and find our success in Him.

Disbelief is fine. Refusing to move past it when confronted with the truth cuts God to the quick.
