We frown at tightwads. Why do they grasp so tightly at their money when they have enough to share?
A miser huddles around a single lightbulb when her bank accounts are fat enough to light her entire home.
The cheapskate walks out of the restaurant without paying a tip because “they didn’t get any value out of the service.”
God says to stop it! That’s not his example. We are to be generous if we want to abound in the blessings of God.
Here are 3 Incentives to Be Generous:
Our 1st Incentive:
Attempting to hold on to money will cause it to slip away.
Proverbs 11:24-25 says:
“One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”
Our 2nd Incentive:
Our generosity is rewarded in this life and in the life to come.
Psalm 37:25 tells us:
“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.”
Our 3rd Incentive:
We become rich in the eyes of the Father when we share with those who are in need.
1 Timothy 6:17-18 is our promise from God:
“As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.”
Tightwads do no one any good. Bah! Don’t be one of them.
Misers are more miserable than happy. Sharing brings smiles.
The cheapskate is an offense to God. Do not associate with such people.
God loves generosity. His nature is to give good things to his creation. He wants to bless you with more than enough through the generosity you show to others.
Jesus shared his life with humanity. It’s time we offer ours to him.
