6 Things God Desires of the Wealthy

English Audio Version

A rich man or woman can be a Christian.

Well, duh, of course, we think. Money has nothing to do with your salvation.

Here’s the thing. Your salvation has everything to do with your money.

1 Timothy 6:17-19 tells us 6 Things God Desires of the Wealthy.

“As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”

Our Christianity changes us on the inside, our desires, goals, and dreams. We walk to a higher calling, one that lifts our fellow man to a greater level of importance.

That changes how we reflect on the money in our bank accounts.

The 1st Thing God Desires of the Wealthy:

We can’t think more of ourselves than others with less money.

The 2nd Thing God Desires of the Wealthy:

We can’t place our confidence in our money over our confidence in God.

The 3rd Thing God Desires of the Wealthy:

We must use our money to do as much good for others as we can.

The 4th Thing God Desires of the Wealthy:

We are to donate to good causes, to spread our good fortune around.

The 5th Thing God Desires of the Wealthy:

We must see our wealth in what we have done for others, not in the resources at our disposal.

The 6th Thing God Desires of the Wealthy:

We are to treasure the things in life that really matter: respect for our fellow man, care and concern for the less fortunate, and a desire to be Christ-like in everything we do.

God blesses us according to our abilities. When money comes our way, it should flow through us, not just to us.

Our wealth is our opportunity to bless others. Let’s start today.
