We flip a coin, and we make our choice by how it lands.
Our decision falls one way or the other.
Rock, paper, or scissors?
Left or right. Hot or cold. Bitter or sweet. Right or wrong. Arrrgh! How do we choose?
Matthew 6:24 suggests a larger canvas of indecision:
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Even in the church we’re taught to pursue the finer things. It’s about shiny suits, fancy hats, and letting our best shine. Of course we want velvet on the pews and the best quality wine for the communion service.
At what point does the desire for comfort take control?
Eenie-meeie-miney-mo, God or money, which way do we go? If we choose the God of creation, we release the control of our money unto him. If we decide to serve the god of money, the whole world will be able to tell.
When our heart is dedicated to God, everything we own becomes his, also.
